Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Puttur

Puttur Shree Mahalingeshwara temple is a 12th-century temple, positioned in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada. Lord Shiva is the main deity. In the local language Muttu means pearls, which delivered the name Mutthur to this place afterwards called since Puttur. During the month of April the Car Festival is celebrated for 10 days with much gaiety and Fervor. The Town is at its colourful best with the dazzling, light and marvellous display of crackers.
